Residents of one Houston neighborhood took it upon themselves to perform water rescues as flooding submerged the area on Monday, April 18.

Greenspoint, in northern Houston, was one of the hardest-hit areas after nearly a foot of rain fell in less than 24 hours. Water levels rose as high as the top of cars, turning parking lots into lakes.

Though officials encouraged residents to wait for rescue officials, some thought the situation was dire enough to warrant an immediate, neighborly response.

Here we go again. Everyone's racist because I didn't get what I wanted when I wanted it! We need to stop using the word racism as it is used far more than necessary sort of like the "N" word. If the "N" word is used by a White Person it's offensive but when a Black person calls another Black person the "N" word it's a term of endearment. WTF?! We all need to start being responsible for ourselves. We rely way to much on our government which frankly can't take care of us but make sure they take care of themselves.

Black book club women booted from Napa Valley wine train settle suit

RACISM KILLS!

SAN FRANCISCO-- A group of mostly black women who filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against the Napa Valley Wine Train have settled the case for an undisclosed amount.

The group's attorney, Waukeen McCoy, told the San Jose Mercury News on Monday the two parties reached a settlement last week. He says the settlement amount is confidential.

The 11 women, 10 black and one white, said they had gathered on the train to discuss a romance novel. But before the train left the station in Napa, a train employee asked them to quiet down because they were offending other passengers, the women said.

And the Black Book Club isn't racist? And the passengers complaining have no rights? I bet if you started a White Book Club that would be racist! America, don't be afraid to say what needs to be said. Discrimination against White's has been an issue for years now and needs to be stopped. Any form of racism is wrong. Mistakes were made in the past on everyone's part and should be left for dead. We can never move forward if we're always dragging our past with us!

Professional Educator: Grades, Showing Up On Time Are A Form Of White Supremacy

By Blake Neff, The Daily Caller

A professional education consultant and teacher trainer argued at the White Privilege Conference (WPC) in Philadelphia that great teachers must also be liberal activists, and described in detail her goal for destroying the “white supremacist” nature of modern education.

Heather Hackman operates Hackman Consulting Group and was formerly a professor of multicultural education at Minnesota’s St. Cloud State University, where she taught future teachers. On Friday, Hackman was given a platform at WPC to deliver a workshop with the lengthy title “No Freedom Unless We Call Out the Wizard Behind The Curtain: Critically Addressing the Corrosive Effects of Whiteness in Teacher Education and Professional Development.” The long title masked a simple thesis on Hackman’s part: Modern education is hopelessly tainted by white supremacy and the “white imperial gaze,” and the solution is to train prospective teachers in college to be activists as well as pedagogues.

NAACP Statement on Supreme Court Ruling to Uphold “One Person, One Vote”

BALTIMORE  – NAACP President and CEO Cornell William Brooks released the following statement about today’s Supreme Court decision on voter representation in Evenwel v. Abbott:

“We are extremely pleased that the Supreme Court today re-affirmed a key principle of our representative system upheld at every lower level of the court system – that people who hold elected office are chosen by and represent the interests of ALL the people who live in their districts, regardless of whether they were active voters, or supportive of an individual candidate’s or party’s agenda and philosophy.

“If voting is a civic sacrament, then the principle of “one person, one vote” is a civic commandment enshrined in our Constitution.  Today, the Court unanimously affirmed that principle.

North Carolina NAACP leader removed from flight

NAACP Statement on the Nomination of Chief Judge Garland to the US Supreme Court

By T. Keung Hui, The Miami Herald

The Rev. William Barber, president of the state NAACP, is questioning why he was removed Friday night from a flight in Washington, D.C.

Airline officials said it was a case involving a “disruptive passenger.”
American Eagle Flight 5382 was scheduled to leave shortly after 10 p.m. Friday from Reagan National Airport when it returned to the gate before departure because of a disruptive passenger, according to Matt Miller, a spokesman for American Airlines. Miller said the passenger was removed and the flight arrived 40 minutes late at Raleigh-Durham International Airport around midnight.

African-American and Latino parents believe the public education system is largely rigged against them, so much so that one-third of African-American parents think public schools aren't even trying to educate black students, according to a new poll.

The survey from The Leadership Conference Education Fund, the education research arm of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, shows that 83 percent of African-American parents and 61 percent of Latino parents reject the notion their communities receive as much education funding as white communities. And more than two-thirds of African-American parents, or 66 percent, say the quality of education provided to black children is not as good as it is for white children.

Propaganda that does nothing but promote racism. Black Children are in the same classes as Whites so you may want to look at the child that's learning the material and not the system that tries to educate them.

Confederate emblem 'anti-American,' judge in flag case says

By EMILY WAGSTER PETTUS, Associated Press

JACKSON, Miss. — A federal judge said Tuesday that the Confederate emblem on the Mississippi flag is "anti-American" because it represents those who fought to leave the United States.

But U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves is not yet saying whether he will fully consider a lawsuit that seeks to eliminate the flag as a state symbol.

Reeves heard more than three hours of arguments about motions in the lawsuit that Carlos Moore, an African-American attorney from Grenada, Mississippi, filed against the state. Moore is asking Reeves to declare the flag an unconstitutional relic of slavery.

Moore argued that under the U.S. Supreme Court decision last summer that effectively legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, a majority of justices found the Constitution protects a fundamental right of dignity. Moore argued the state flag violates his dignity and that of other African-Americans.

It is the essence of being American. It was Americans who fought for what they believed and that's American as it gets my friends. The judge in this case should make rulings not provide commentary on his or her own opinion. Rule of Law should apply, PERIOD!

White officer gets probation in black driver's shooting

By Jeffrey Collins, The Associated Press

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A white South Carolina police officer who was charged with a felony for shooting and killing a black driver at the end of a chase took a plea deal Monday and was sentenced to three years of probation.

Justin Craven, 27, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor misconduct in office, multiple media outlets reported. A prosecutor wanted the North Augusta police officer charged with voluntary manslaughter, which carries up to 30 years in prison, but a grand jury refused to indict Craven. He was later charged with a different felony.

From our Friend, Travis Alexander, The Boston Globe

A black Boston firefighter who says he was denied entrance to Fenway Park to make a safety inspection during the 2013 World Series along with his black co-worker, while their white colleague was allowed to enter the park, has filed a lawsuit against the Red Sox, according to court records.

The civil complaint was filed by Robert C. Cox, 50, of Walpole, on Wednesday in Suffolk Superior Court for unspecified damages.

The Red Sox, whose principal owner, John Henry also owns The Boston Globe, did not immediately comment on the lawsuit Friday night. Cox could not be reached for comment.

The act of racism itself is wrong, but what's even more at issue is the media finds it's necessary to exploit that racism to get people to read their rag. There should be no suit. No one is entitled to anything because of the color of their skin and that means NO ONE! There will always be racism in this World, White against Black, Black Against White, Asian against Mexican, well you get the picture.

When we stop using our skin color to impose our will upon others then racism will end and not until then. Didn't someone once say turn the other cheek.
